The Works Museum is all about hands-on engineering for kids ages 4-12 and their families. When you visit The Works Museum, you’ll dig into the basics of engineering, science, and technology with our interactive experiences and design challenges. Kids touch, try, and build as they explore how things work – all in the Museum’s open floor plan that makes it easy to supervise your creative explorers.

Located just 10 minutes from the Mall of America, The Works Museum is a great addition to your next family outing in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Sundays 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Mondays 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Events Calendar

Admission

Adults and children (ages 2 and up): $13 per person
Museum members: Free with digital member card and photo ID
Can't find your digital card? Send us an email and request a new one
Children under 2: Free

The Museum floor and any Pop-Up Engineering events occurring during your visit are included in your admission. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a chaperone (age 15+).

Members enjoy unlimited visits (with member card and photo ID). Become a member today!

Sensory-friendly kits are now available for check-out at our Front Desk.

Each kit includes items for children who need some sensory support:

  • Visual timers

  • Headphones

  • Fidgets

  • Gloves

  • Sunglasses

Each person who checks out an item will be asked to fill out a brief survey. Kits are funded by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services who have requested the surveys to support their research.

Accessibility

Everyone can engineer. At The Works Museum, we aim to make our facility welcoming to all visitors. If you have questions or needs not addressed here, please feel free to contact us in advance of your visit at info@theworks.org or by calling us at 952-888-4262. 

Museum Entrance
The Works Museum’s entrance is on the west side of the building, toward the south corner. The entrance has automatic doors and a wheelchair accessible ramp.

Inside the Museum
Our exhibits, classrooms, and restrooms are all on one level. There are two accessible family restrooms equipped with changing tables.

Parking
Parking is always free at The Works Museum. Accessible parking spaces are available near the Museum entrance and on the north side of the building. Visitors with mobility concerns may be dropped off just outside the Museum entrance, in the bus loading zone.

Public transit
The Works Museum is close the Metro Orange Line and several bus routes. Use the Metro Transit Trip Planner to determine your best route. https://www.metrotransit.org/trip-planner

Bike racks
Bike Racks are available on the northeast side of the building. We do not offer bike lockers.

Gift Cards

Purchase a gift card for a friend or family member. Gift cards are available in the following amounts: $13, $26, $39, $52, $55, $65, $78 and $100.
Gift cards can be used for Museum admission only.

Birthday Parties. Looking for a unique birthday experience for your child? Host an unforgettable celebration at The Works Museum! Easy for you, fun for your kids. You can even make your own party favors!

Camps. Summer and school break STEM camps for kids at The Works Museum are ideal for children ages 5-12 who love to explore, discover, design, and build. In our STEM camps, children explore engineering, science, technology, and math in a kid-centered way. Our expert educators encourage exploration and work with each child to make his or her experience engaging and fun.

Experience Gallery. Our open-format Experience Gallery is designed for young engineers to explore at their own pace with hands-on activities. Kids can build with K’Nex, test out a giant kaleidoscope, design sturdy structures, and so much more!
